The 69th Street Birdsong Bridge
Bill Birdsong was a good man. He set firecrackers off for the kids year after year, a huge show. People would come from hundreds of miles out to watch the fireworks year after year with Bill Birdsong.
Beatrix Kiddo came to the shore one year. She had lovely yellow horn colored hair, and strong brown skin cured by surfing and sea and the sun and good dreams. She had blue eyes and now she has a baby and a tracksuit with a stripe along the fat of the thigh, and Bill a Birdsong is still letting off fireworks and working with the children who come to his beach every summe. Of course it his not his beach, he just works there. The waves own the beach, the sea, and themselves.
