Commenting on how you said your childhood being replicated in his... well interestingly enough the original inspiration for Link's name is because... in the original Zelda on NES - he was literally how Miyamoto "linked" the gamer into the video game. Link is the middle man between you and Hyrule as well as the characters. Miyamoto is essentially the reason I freaking love Zelda. Not only is he linking you to the game he created, he is linking you to his imagination. The origin of Zelda is that "Shigeru Miyamoto was actually inspired by his own exploration as a young boy in the hillsides surrounding his childhood home in Kyoto, Japan. When he was a young, he used to venture into the forests, secluded lakes and caves. Moreover, he even ventured into many rural villages. When he was venturing, he discover cave entrance in the middle of the woods. And Miyamoto revealed that this is one of the most memorable experiences of his life." Now that is AWESOME. I totally get that sense his experiences when I play Zelda Games. Of course nowadays it's much more narrative and became its own story - but it still holds that feeling of adventure.

Offtopic but kinda on - I LOVE hiking and I partly blame Zelda.
