Personally, I think it's completely ridiculous of you to have taken over a sub and changed the rules without telling anyone and then gone back through the old posts and started deleting anything that didn't fit your idea of what this sub should be. Why did you take over this sub if you didn't like the content? Did you do it just because of the name? Why not create your own sub and do what you like instead of cleansing an older sub to fit your mindset?

I could give you a tone of analogies as to why what you did is wrong but I'm pretty sure you already know that. So to answer your question, I think you should undo what you have done and come back to the community and ask them what they think, and however way that plays out you have no right to go back and delete older posts to cleanse the sub of its history.

Just my 2 cents, and for the record, I think you should be removed from being the mod. What you did and your perspective of what powers you have are absolutely twisted.

You misunderstand. Your post was removed for being in violation of the old rules. You know, the rules the previous moderator created. It also happened to be in violation of the new rules, the much more open-ended ones, because it wasn't a video. It should have never been allowed in the first place. If the userbase wants to allow non-videos, I'm open for discussion.

Full disclosure:
I've only deleted four posts, and three were non-videos or blogspam. However, the old moderator deleted 14 posts, some which were videos, and didn't seem to break the rules - and then quit moderating completely.

How long have you been a mod? From what I figure you deleted 3 posts, old posts at that, right off the bat.

Either way, my vote is to keep this a sub for anything related to youtube, since that's what it was to me and to many other. If you just want a sub for youtube videos then create a youtubevideo sub, don't take over an old sub and start deleting posts.

And for the record, one of the biggest issues facing creators is false copyright claims against their content, and that post which you deleted was directly related to that, not to mention that it was the top post for the day, showing that the community was interested in it.

I find it sad that some of the subs here on VOAT are being taken over by people that seem to be way too power hungry, trying to control the discourse. I miss the old days of the net when forums where open places to discuss anything related to a certain subject. So sad to see things become so segregated, disjointed and controlled.
