@discoball, care to comment?

Also OP, you may want to post this to /v/whatever so if this post gets deleted and no reason is given, more people will know.

Hi @salvia_d. Your post was interesting and contained helpful advice - so, to be clear, that was not what caused it to be deleted.

At the time it was submitted, the rules in the sidebar stated that this subverse was for “sharing your own channel's videos for self promotion”. I thought that was too restrictive. So, after becoming a moderator, I deleted the old sidebar, and replaced it with the more welcoming: “a place for YouTube videos”. I agree this still needs to be expanded upon.

Your post was deleted because it wasn't a video.

However, if our users think this should also be a subverse for YouTube discussion, and other non-video content, I'm certainly open to the idea. Let me know what you think.

So it looks like that people are considering my reply to be hostile, which I agree that it was (after re-reading it), so my apologies. Considering what has happened over the last few years with a lot of forums, my tolerance for mods that delete posts and try and control all discussion is basically zero.

Either way, good luck with the sub. Peace.

Personally, I think it's completely ridiculous of you to have taken over a sub and changed the rules without telling anyone and then gone back through the old posts and started deleting anything that didn't fit your idea of what this sub should be. Why did you take over this sub if you didn't like the content? Did you do it just because of the name? Why not create your own sub and do what you like instead of cleansing an older sub to fit your mindset?

I could give you a tone of analogies as to why what you did is wrong but I'm pretty sure you already know that. So to answer your question, I think you should undo what you have done and come back to the community and ask them what they think, and however way that plays out you have no right to go back and delete older posts to cleanse the sub of its history.

Just my 2 cents, and for the record, I think you should be removed from being the mod. What you did and your perspective of what powers you have are absolutely twisted.

You misunderstand. Your post was removed for being in violation of the old rules. You know, the rules the previous moderator created. It also happened to be in violation of the new rules, the much more open-ended ones, because it wasn't a video. It should have never been allowed in the first place. If the userbase wants to allow non-videos, I'm open for discussion.

Full disclosure:
I've only deleted four posts, and three were non-videos or blogspam. However, the old moderator deleted 14 posts, some which were videos, and didn't seem to break the rules - and then quit moderating completely.

@salvia_d, I'm going to deleted this post in a moment, but will archive it so that it can be used as a reference when discussing the future of this subverse. I'll make a more detailed post in a bit, but for now, lets keep to the YouTube videos until we, the userbase, reach a general consensus.
