I would quite like to see something like this; but in order to maximize the view count (and ensure that 90% of viewers look at more than the top 3 submissions), it would be good with some structure.

Maybe weekly/monthly threads with a 1000 word limit, requests for more could be facilitated outside of the thread. That way people could post extracts that they are proud of, and receive feedback from the community. Original comments must follow thread-specific posting guidelines, while replies are free-form.

It would also be cool with monthly "extract from your story" competitions, where the winners are compiled in a sticky post.

Maybe monthly? Everybody posts their work, it would help keep the sub active and improve members writing

I admit it has been a month since it was mentioned here, but there is a subverse made for this, /v/writingcritique, and they really aren't getting the love they deserve.

If we're going to have critique threads, then could there be rules or strong suggestions about submission formats? It's a lot easier to provide useful feedback on, for example, a piece on googledocs with editing enabled than it is on the same piece on pastebin.

It's not a bad suggestion and it's one I've wanting to do for a long time but seeing as how one of my initial attempts and last years NaNoWriMo was a complete failure; I just don't see it picking up anytime soon.

I hope to be proven wrong at some point.

I'm very new here, I didn't know you already tried, sorry! A sub with 1200+ writers and no stories? That's awfully disappointing. Hopefully the sub gets more popular for it to work one day
