Ok Tech Goats
I have been cracking my head on this set up for a while and finally am asking for some help.
I got one of these Aorus laptops
It has a 1TB SSD and 1TB HDD with windows 10 on the SSD.
I would like to install windows 7 on the SSD and Ubuntu on the HDD.
I can get Ubuntu installed on either drive with no issue, but I can not get windows 7 installed on either drive.
I keep getting the no CD/DVD driver error during installation.
I used NTlite to slipstream the usb driver into the windows PE, windows set up and windows installation image with no luck.
Still no CD/DVD driver. I figure that I am heading in the right direction to accomplish my goals, but something in my execution is
wrong. Something simple and stupid besides trying to use MS.
I used ubuntu to create a bootable partition on the HDD and placed a copy of win 7 install on that partition.
Win 7 installed and is up and running, but there are two issues.
1) The keyboard does not work. Been having to use MS on-screen keyboard. The keyboard works fine while the BIOS is booting up, but as soon as windows starts and takes over the keyboard goes dark. My assumption is this is some sort of driver issue.
2) Still no USB 3.0 ports working and this machine only has 3.0 ports. I know this is a driver issue. Also the root cause of why I could not get win7 to install from USB. I try installing the Intel 3.0 host controller and get the error that my system does not meet the minimum requirements to install.
On a side note I have to say Ubuntu is working great. If only I could game using only linux :(
If I can not get win7 working I think I will just give up gaming.
MS and Intel can go fuck themselves for making this so difficult.
Any thought on how to fix?
