Ha. Judging from the attire of the three it might be safe to assume they're of different tribes - Which makes this image even more fantasy-based than before.

Ditch any Disney-esque notion you had of the Natives. They relentlessly waged ruthless tribal warfare on one another before, during and after the arrival of the white man. They even used the white man's tools to better slaughter one another.

This point always gets brought up as though it is an excuse for genocide.

I'm not foolish enough to apply the moral standard of today to the past.

Though I find it curious that the only genocides that are feverishly talked about are the ones Europeans participated in.

You do know that europeans also relentlessly wage war among themselves? That they used the wealth gain from the new world to fund these massive wars.

You could almost say that rather than being perpetrators of a ruthless genocide, we were merely victors of a cultural war.

Of course. The rule of in-war applies to all of mankind.

Are you stupid? At the very end several native american groups joined together in attempt to stop white people. Most of what you learned in highschool was wrong.

At the very end

And the many years they were still slaughtering one another. Even "at the very end" there was loads of infighting.

And don't pretend modern high school education would accurately depict the Native American.

Seriously though, this is quite sad.

OMG this is so sad and funny and amazing. Because you know they had conversations like that. Without the buzzwords but just

'There are a LOT of them coming, brother. Maybe we shouldn't -'

'No, no - you're being paranoid, man. Let's just show them how to take care of themselves and then we can all live together in peace.'

'Dude, I think they're selling some of our children off the coast.'

'No those are the bad ones - not all of them are like that. You'll see - it's gonna be fine.'

No. Not really.

Natives were not heterogeneous. The primary reason Europeans were accepted, rather than opposed, was tribal conflict. Each tribe thought appeasing the Europeons who had better arms and armour would see them victorious over the other tribes, expansion and resources grabbing.

In addition, at this time, the Europeans had a much lower homicide rate, meaning if you were European the chances of being murdered were significantly lower than if you were a native.

And finally, 99 percent or something like, of Natives had already died due to a plague that started, in all likleyhood, with Cortez-- thought I don't think it's certain. America was mostly empty. Large native cities that rivaled European cities were empty. Most of the tribes had collapsed and disappeared. The world the Europeans walked into was empty, and where people existed, they were consumed with killing their neighbors.

No. Not really.

Europeans are not heterogeneous. The primary reason multiculturalism is accepted, rather than opposed, is political conflict. Every party thinks appeasing 'minorities' who have increasing numbers and a very vocal group of foolish people who blindly support catering to them will see them victorious over the other political parties, often driven by those seeking monetary gain.

In addition, at this time, Whites have a much lower homicide rate, meaning if you are White your chances of being murdered by one of your own is lower than if you're, say, black. (Not sure how this bit was/is relevant, or how exactly you decided what homicide rates were in colonial America.)

And finally, I have to end the similarities in our posts to address your ending. Yes, plague was a massive devastating force for the natives of the Americas and certainly killed off more people than colonizing forces did. But mostly empty? What? So the constant conflicts over territory expansion were with...who then?

You as an individual keep your culture alive. Does having another culture around you kill your culture? How much do I have to participate in YOUR culture? Shit like this just makes the people touting this nationalism look insecure.

So you believe Muslims are tecnologically and culturally superior and will take over if allowed to move? Seems a bit rediculous.

[–] SpiceRunner 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Technologically, no. We have access to pretty much all of the same technology, they (muslim countries) don't have the production capabilities of the west. Culturally? That a bit trickier. From an evolutionary standpoint, theirs may be superior. They're more prolific breeders, and they're far more aggressive when it comes to defending their culture. However their culture is a theocracy, and those prove to be incredibly stable until they're suddenly not. Big downside, when theocracies collapse, they tend to do so with a whimper. People lose faith in the system and all that fervent support blows away. What modern islam really needs is a Protestant Reformation style event. Something to bring their laws and view up to speed with the rest of the modern world.

I agree on the reformation but that requires an Imam to have the balls to put a proclamation on figurative Mosque Door somewhere. They'd murder him within the hour and the media wouldn't say anything. WE need to support the ones willing to stand up but to do that we have to go after the ones wanting to murder anyone who disagrees.

We are tired of war. Most Islamic countries and most Muslims haven't experienced the leathality of world wars 1 and 2. In fact, the mind breaks when you do try to think of then numbers. WWI saw one man killed for every single second of the war. Then on top of that, Europe was destroyed and leveled.

So, yeah, we've have 67 years of peace based on the extreme effeciency of how we kill, our total war mindset, and the shadow of civilization cast by fire bombs and nukes.

That said, this peace dividend is coming to an end. It ended quicker after WWI and the real danger was war breaking out immediately in the wake of WWII. However, war is inevitable, and when it comes, the Islamic world won't be prepared for the intensity or throughness of what is going to happen.

Take the resolve of the Russians in WWII or the English in the face of the Blitz or the terrible effeciency of the Spartan-like Germans.

Peace means you stop breeding like rats. Every nation that knows peace and abundance stops breeding. After war, they fuck everything. This is why, I assume in the past, war was seen as a necessary and noble renewal.

In short, when and if we go to war, chances are it will be for ALL the marbles.

You idiots DO realize the native americans endured an end of times style plague that effectively annihilated the entirety of the population before mass immigration by europeans?
You realize the europeans were 400 years ahead in technology? You understand what false equivalence is?

Supposedly, an expedition into middle continential North america during the early 1500's brought horses and pigs. Supposedly, there were Native "cities" on the plains but them seem to have gone missing 100 years later.

Plague brought over by birds less than a century before columbus. Native populations were recovering when he showed up and that's probably the only reason he was able to stick around.

I think experience is what breeds race realism, not the other way around.
