Depending on how a society is set up, robots taking all our jobs is either a terrible thing or a fantastic one.

It should be humanities end game not the end of humanity.

Obviously the rich care sooooo much about the poor that they'll make sure we're provided for once we're no longer needed.

Sounds like we need a society where everyone's rich.

Yeah, I mean, look at how well it worked for the Earth in Star Trek. Roddenberry put one hell of a lot of thought into the logistics of a post-need civilization, and I'd like to think that we're not terribly far off from it. We already have more homes in this country than people, the US alone makes enough food to nourish the world's population twice over, there's really just the matter of sustainable freshwater, sterilizing the retarded/human dregs, and nonrenewable resources left to tackle.
After that, there would be no need for money. Hell, if you're an offgridder, you barely need money at all. All that lifestyle takes is utilitarianism, and not being a pussy.

I don't remember this happening in Star trek
