Feud between neighbors worsened by racial hatred. Don't know if that qualifies as a hate crime, though that may well be what prompted the actual violence. The same goes for the overwhelming majority of the events that end up being protested as hate crimes; lets face it, had the racial roles been reversed here there is no doubt what the event would be called. No hope for it getting it called anything other the 'a dispute' though; there's a reason they were quick to bring up his criminal record (which while possibly relevant, again, would not have been brought up if the racial roles were reversed).
