The argument is that no checking into his story was done after he was detained. If they had done a cursory search on him and found him making threats to attack the candidate and be a martyr they may have seen cause to keep him in custody for longer and possibly charge him with the threats.

Doubtful though. If he had a weapon, yes. But absent one, he is just a tryhard.
