This shit is getting out of hand. If you're afraid of confrontation, being a police officer is not for you. There's no excuse for this shit.

Fucking pussies. They felt so "threatened" that the only option was to killer her? There were multiple officers on the scene. One trained person should be able to disarm a small emotional woman with a knife without killing her. It almost looks like they take that job so that they have a chance to murder someone without repercussions.

A taser is for a situation where the suspect does not have a lethal weapon. A knife is a lethal weapon you match or exceed the threat level if you are a LEO. This is not a difficult concept. I'm sure you have heard the saying "don't bring a knife to a gun fight" well you don't bring a "taser to a knife fight". Finally if I pulled a knife on you and you shoot me you would whould be justified. So just drop you false outrage.

That exactly why most of them do become cops.

I've known a lot of genuinely good cops just trying to make a living and reduce harm. But when I hear stories like these I think there are two possibilities: Either these officers are absolute cowards or they were just looking for an excuse to use their weapon. I think superiors/those responsible for hiring should face the same level of penalties that those under them do. There needs to be a strong disincentive for hiring the wrong type of people or under-training/not properly disciplining your force.

"Threatened". They sound like the cunt professor who slandered that veteran student. Being threatened imaginary or real is not an excuse to abandon responsibility and damn everything else. These fucking cunts nowadays only know how to push the nuclear option whenever they meet resistance. There needs to be consequences.

Right now we live in a society where not everyone is perfectly stable. In fact, I'd reason the majority of us have problems uncontrollable to us in our life like Asperger or depression. It is a shame this woman had to die at the hands of people who are not trained to defuse the situation, but instead trained to shoot when threatened. I know a few cops personally who go over scenarios in their heads all the time here in Arizona. In fact a few months ago two of our own deputies where ambushed by a guy wielding a pistol-- he died but both deputes were injured afterwards. Turns out this raging alcoholic was a very mentally disturbed individual that just happened to snap.

That being said, the woman was unstable and it probably was her illness's fault in the end. Could the police have taken a 100lb suicidal woman with a knife into custody? Probably. Was it necessary to shoot her? We might never know because we weren't there.

Officers said it was dark in the room

You have flashlights you retards. You seem to have no issue blinding or beating people with them, but using them as a light source baffles you.

I don't understand why this woman had to die. She could've been tasered I guess. Or shot in the leg(s) only to immobilise her, not to kill.

If you're going to shoot someone. Shoot to kill. Blowing her legs out would have been a terrible move. They could have missed, she could have bled out from hitting an artery, she could have sued for medical bills and other damages.

I agree with your saying, but not with your reasoning. The reason why you should shoot to kill is because you identified a real threat and if you fail to put this threat down, you or someone else can be killed. Not to avoid being sued.

[–] deltasly 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Can't do that, too many cases of the person (ahrm...bad guy) suing after being shot...and winning, I hear.

It's shoot to kill or not at all :/

Tazer makes sense, but iirc standard procedure with shooting people in the force is to shoot to kill or not at all, which is also why they usually empty an entire magazine into people.

She charged them with a knife. Yeah, it sucks, but that's what happens when you do dumb shit. Let's say you're not a cop, you're a civilian. What if she tried attacking you with a knife? If you had the means you would probably kill her too.

Not only that, it says she died in the hospital later. Seems they shot her to neutralize and it ended up killing her. They didn't use excessive force with her.

"Just taser her instead of killing her!" What if she runs through the tasers and still stabs the cop? That's why they shoot. She charged at them with a knife. No excuses.

He's probably a Limey, but speaking as a Canadian, I'd expect any of our armed police forces would have dealt with his better. Even the EPS, which I large consider a joke due to their underfunding and understaffing, wouldn't have shot her.

You know, I'm as anti-fucking law enforcement and as anti gun as you can get. (european here) but if some fucker charges me witha knife for ANY reason, I will fucking kill them without a seconds remorse. It's tragic that this woman was emotionally unstable enough to charge law enforcement officers with a knife, but they have a right to defend themselves, just like anyone else.

If a cop cant take down a retard with a knife, they shouldnt be cops.

At what point did being a cop become a fucking cake job, next firefighters are going to refuse to go into fire, cause they are hot.

3
4

[–] SherlockHomeslice 3 points 4 points (+7|-3) ago

If a retard charges a cop with a knife she's gonna get shot. Same with anyone. Why would anyone put their lives in danger to try and take down a knife. Cops are trained to disarm. There is a higher chance of being stabbed and even though they're trained it's not guaranteed.

They're people too. If any dumbass decides to charge a cop, I'm not going to defend them. There are cops that are trigger happy, this is not an example.

[–] AlphaWookie 2 points 1 points (+3|-2) ago

Well you are ignorant. You would be surprised how many house fires and business fires that firemen don't go into because they are to hot. They just monitor the fire and keep it from spreading to nearby structures. Why don't sack up and just apply to the police force or sign up for a cadet program and see what the job actually entails likewise for firemen.

Sure, the average person would defend themselves and might accidentally kill her.

Police should be better than the average person in this type of situation. Their job is to take these kind of confrontational situations and produce a better outcome than the average person could.

[–] ultimatemuffin 3 points 5 points (+8|-3) ago

Seems not the popular opinion, but if someone is being attacked with a knife, they are pretty justified in shooting their attacker. It sucks that she was mentally handicapped, but this is probably one of the more justifiable police actions I've read about this week.
