Nubian cavalry. They were the key group in the 3rd punic war. They were Hanibal key military unit when he was raping Italy. Then the Roman spent a ton of effort to get a Nubian king to join them which when he did it was a key pivot in the war.

Not Nubian, but Numidian, as in Berber/Algerian. They shared similar complexion as other Mediterranean people, Romans included. Allying with Nubians, who were from far south of Egypt, wouldn't have been very helpful for Rome in the fight against Carthage, which was centered around modern day Tunisia.
Hannibal's rampage was also part of the 2nd Punic War. The 3rd one was just Rome sacking Carthage.
