Yesterday, I saw a brand new account remark on one of the Oregon stories.. They said they were a native Oregonian and that they couldn't wait to see the ranchers cleared out.

I guess the feds finally learned about Voat.

Eeeeeh. Most people I know didn't give much of a shit, or wrote them off as whiny squatters. And I'm ~100 miles from the refuge itself. They saw it as just some other asinine political event to ignore. Depressing but not surprising

ps. At times like this i really regret my choice of username

Most people in Oregon seem to be most annoyed that the news made it seemed like these guys represented oregon.

I saw that comment as well and gave it some downvotes. Double jeporday is a clear violation of the Constitution.

Yup. Also liberals and democrats are basically like unpaid shills for big govt anyway.

That's what bugs me about people that identify themselves as being a specific thing, culturally (democrat/republican, feminist, SJW, etc). If most of the thoughts and beliefs going on in your head have been "taught" to you, instead of formulated by your own observation of facts, then you're sheep-kin; regardless of what those beliefs may be.

So many people seem to miss this; it's what everyone is referring to when they say "learn to think for yourself". You question everything, even the motives behind the person trying to "educate" you.

The GOP are much much worse if we're being honest here. Donald Trump Attacks 'Terrible' Edward Snowden On Fox: 'There Is Still A Thing Called Execution'

Not that there's really that much difference between Trump and the liberals that support Hilary, they're both garbage authoritarians.

Some of it are legit concerns to bring up, though. The key difference is that we need to be discussing solutions, instead of just circlejerking about how bad some people are for thinking a certain way or "infiltrating" voat. The latter is how you end up with reddit 2.0.

I don't care who comes to voat, or what their opinions are, as long as those opinions aren't motivated by a call for more censorship, groupthink, and social-engineering of conversational narratives. The whole point of voat is that we come here to exercise our freedom of speech and expression, without worrying about safe spaces.

In that regard, voat is a "safe space" for people looking to avoid "safe spaces". It should stay that way.

You think they are so obvious? I'm seeing a lot of posters out of the blue lamenting how "toxic" our community is and equating down voting liberal as censorship. Then seeing normal posters agreeing with them.

We even have the fake I saw a swastika threads.
