Argentina has lots and lots of flaws and bashing our own country is a bigger national sport than football (soccer for the Americans), but there's something I'm starting to realize and even feel proud of: multiculturalism actually works here.
Argentina has been a multicultural country for ages, often referred to as a "melting pot of races" (in Spanish: "crisol de razas"), yet we don't have the racial and religious tensions of your countries, immigration is not an issue (hell, this country was built by immigrants) and the last terrorist attack we suffered was 22 years ago. We have very popular annual festivals that celebrate multiculturalism and we get along despite our differences.
I've even heard of European "friends of a friend" saying that they'd like to come here to escape from the shit going on there. A year ago I would've thought they were insane, because why would they leave the first world to come to this South American shithole? But now... now I don't think they're that crazy.
I guess I should thank you for making me appreciate my country a bit more?
