Something which can only be attributed to the influx of users that came from the banned hate subs on Reddit. The friendly community that exhibited no hivemind behaviour is completely gone.

Voat has become significantly worse because of the mass exodus of racist ex-Redditors. Racists usually are just shitty people in general, even outside of their racist opinions.

You are censoring yourselves and have created a hivemind that is no different from the one that exists on Reddit.

All communities do this. It's a fundamental part of human nature. The upvote / downvote system that both this site and Reddit uses has the effect of amplifying the hivemind nature of communities on these sites. Voat is especially bad in this regard because certain features of this site are locked out if you do not have enough positive comment contribution points.

I loved this site because it wasn't a safe space. But it is now a safe space. A safe space for a different demographic to the one that exists on Reddit.

This is democracy in action. The majority holds power.

For now maybe, or maybe they're just the loudest at the moment. Rational people here cannot allow themselves to be silenced by this perceived majority. They must speak up and step up if Voat is to become anything better than what it is today.

I personally don't think we should let a site like Voat go down the tubes without a fight. It still has the potential to be one of the few bastions of free speech on the internet, and that certainly cannot be underestimated.

Maybe now Atko will see the idiocy of making groupthink points actually matter on the site. Probably not, dude doesn't seem like he could catch a clue if it hit him in his idealistic European face.
