Yep. As the end of the article states, they're already in state's custody.

I don't know about you all, but I was left alone pretty often for this length of time at that age.

Nothing happened to the kids, and the mother isn't charged with any other "crime".

Ooh, can you imagine if she'd left them alone for even 5 minutes at home in the summertime and their home was a car?

This busybody think-of-the-children nonsense has got to end. I'm of the helicopter generation and even I knew to not open the door to strangers and call 911 if there was an emergency. How are kids supposed to learn resilience and self-sufficiency if they have the 'rents hovering over them at all times?

Or is the point to instill a sense of constant surveillance in them from day 1...

Simple answer: they don't. They always want someone to protect them from the world now

6 and 7 is old enough to be alone most of the day. Who the fuck called the cops anyway?

Unfortunately the public records haven't been released yet so I can't find out. I'm betting a neighbor that had it in for the woman for whatever unrelated reason. (that's pretty common in this area)

I was left alone a lot at age 8 with no problems. If she feels that the kids can take care of themselves for that length, then so let her. They aren't going to starve in 6 hours or anything

When I was six, I was home alone every day after school for about 3 hours. It didn't do anybody any harm.

I can only imagine the harm it would've done to me though if, when I was six, I'd been kidnapped by state agents.

When I was 6 or 7 my parents left me in the back of a car, curled up asleep with the doors shut and the window cracked down for like.. 2-3 hours while they went shopping... I didn't even get kidnapped!

Yup. Good ole' tennessee.

I'm still in heated arguments on this paper's facebook page with locals that are trying to say it's a good thing that her children are being taken away....simply unbelievable.
