Update 1: I have Windows 10 Home.
Update 2: In a quick research, it doesn't look too bright for me.
Background
My computer is two years old. When I built it, I bought and installed Windows 7. I've had Windows 7 on my PC up until I upgraded to 10 about a month ago. Not once in that time has my computer ever crashed.
In this month that I've had Win10, my computer has crashed three times. Each and every time I've restarted my computer afterwards, the "preparing to configure updates" screen is always there. That and the fact that my computer only updated three times, leads me to believe that the update process itself is the cause for my crashes.
On Win7, if this would happen, I would simply disable automatic updates. But, now, I can't even find a way to disable updates let alone disable its automatic behavior. So, accordingly, I was a nanometer close to throwing everything I own out the window and rage quitting life.
My whining
If my computer must crash every time I install updates, fine, but then I need to be able to control the process in some way. Every time this happens I lose a few minutes of work and am delayed ten minutes while my computer restarts to update. This pisses me off so much.
Is there any way at all I can either disable or control my updates? I don't care how many hidden programs and registry tweaks I must do. If this continues, I'm seriously considering taking the time to downgrade back to Windows 7.

Though I'm doubtful it'll solve the crashes (since I have a pathetically small amount of info about the crashes), I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
