Most likely seeing if there was a strong, inverse correlation between butt size and IQ. It's not functionally different from investigating the stereotype that extraordinarily attractive females often aren't very intelligent. It's harder to measure in other ethnicities because of more abstract beauty standards, but for Nigerian culture waist/hip ratio is a beauty standard and is trivial to measure.

It looks like a weak correlation in this study (so ixnay on the theory), but as social science studies go it's relatively good because at least it's quantifiable and presumably reproducible. Which is better than the usual rhorsach of subjective slop the social sciences calls "studies".

Actually, extraordinarily good looking or even just normally beautiful people are known to be more intelligent and of sound mental health. Beauty indicates physical health and lack of genetic mutation, the brain is the biggest organ to be affected by mutations. These mutations are easy to detect through facial or bodily deformities. If you look at the far left, you will see they are very ugly which perfectly corresponds with their mental illness. Check out dr. Dutton for details

An argument could be said for women, and a very few men, that they don't have to improve themselves much so long as they stay beautiful. One of the hardest improvements is instilling a lifetime of learning, the vast base of knowledge gathered over your life, and thinking upon it, makes for an interesting character. If you lack that due to merely floating through life based upon your looks, it could correlate to seemingly low IQ. IQ itself is meaningless unless you ruthlessly take advantage of it.

If this was honestly the purpose of the study that seems like the most typically african study ever.

It's essentially the same as studying any other sexual characteristic to see if nature is min-maxing to attract a mate. E.g. trading off IQ vs breast size vs butt size vs lip size vs hair color vs whatever else humans find attractive. E.g. if there was a strong inverse correlation it'd indicate badonkadonk is substantially more appealing to the locals than IQ. Since it's so weak, it's likely that locals arent making that tradeoff.

It's pretty similar to studies in the West to see if men will chase women who are attractive but dumb as a brick (they will).

I dunno. A study on how the amount of gold inside a person's head correlated with melanin levels would be more African.
