The last place I worked there were 12 of us doing basically the same job. When I started I put in max effort and was always helping my co-workers. A couple of years later we got a new supervisor, I got written up a couple of times for spending too much time helping others and not working at my station. Then the supervisor convinced management he was over worked and hired an assistant. After a few months the assistant told me he was checking production numbers and I was putting out almost twice the product as the next most productive worker. Stewed about that for a few weeks and hit the boss up for a raise. Nope, couldn't do it, policy, you know, blah blah... So from then on I watched the slowest worker and just kept pace with him.
