The bible is clearly against it. Had nothing to do with the pope per se. It only became fashionable among the wealthy as a rebellious act or secret societies. Aside from them it was almost exclusively sailors.
That's largely how it stayed until Jews indoctrinated people it was cool. Which is largely to get goyium to stand outside of christianity. An act of rebellion against christianity. Jews get hard thinking about their cattle; especially the skank whores.
1st of all, it's pope Hadrian that banned tattoos within christiandom in the late 700s.
2nd, prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the Scriptures forbid tattoos of all forms.
The Romans despised tattoos because they linked the practice to barbarians, Celts & Slavs had no issue with it. Since Christianity didn't envelop Europe until 1000 AD, we're talking about a period of roughly 800 to 900 years during which it was frowned upon based on the word of man, not God.
Would have to research as been a long time since I read that part. But the bible clearly spells out not to mark your body.
That wasn't a pope thing. It's a biblical thing. Now a pope may have called it out (also making you correct), but it's always been part of the canon material.
