Dna results show almost all Lumbee examined as R1(european) or (african) haplo type which neither is Indigenous Native american dna types. so why are the Lumbee claiming Indian heritage?!!?!
I really do not have a horse in this race. I am 100 percent European. I grew up next to one of the largest Indiginous reservation in North America and attended school with Algonquins. There were inevitably some metis ( french/indian mixed people) and there were also some full blooded indians. They were discerning of native blood and native traits with everyone wanting a metis card for the benfits. I picked up somewhat on that discernment. I also worked among the Lumbees for a period of 3 years. They came in all collors, a mismash of off white to almost black. Lumberton the largest city in Robeson county like the county is listed as 1/3 white, 1/3 black, and 1/3 lumbee indian. I have seen whites and blacks claim to be lumbee and indian looking metis people claim to be white. What I find amusing is all three links you posted refute your assertation. Not claiming you are wrong, but I am saying there is indiginous blood mixed in SOME of the people who claim to be Lumbee.

The Lumbees are an example. Not recognized by the Federal government. They are a mixture of English, Tuscarora, and black.

Lumbees have ZERO native american DNA! NONE! They are escaped slave octaroons.
