Completely ridiculous decision by one of those mods of v/AskVoat: @Blacque @farqanator @Flux @Kva @She @shiny or @Stoic

Maybe you care to explain the reasoning behind this deletion here? And no, a missing question mark is not a valid reason.

If you can't provide a valid reason, I suggest that you demod yourself as you have proven yourself unfit to moderate an important community here on Voat.

Here is my post in the deleted thread:

Edit, linked to my comment instead of quoting it here in full.
Edit 2: Paging @gatordontplaythatsht the OP of the deleted thread.
Edit 3: Changed v/AskMod to v/AskVoat

you have to remember the fundamental rule of voat: TELL MODS TO EAT MORE DICK SANDWICHES

I don't know why I didn't think to do that while I was pointing out it didn't work. Clearly, I am an idiot.

It was deleted for lack of a question mark, by the mod in question @she To me this is an obviously flawed and terrible rule to have on what is essentially a default sub.

Indeed, people enforcing rules to the letter might be formally in the right, but in those cases they act against the interest of the community and so cause more harm than good.

Just to let you know, last time I read about it, names that you edit in don't ping those users. You'd have to add the in another post.

Thanks for the heads up, I did not know that. It seems however that @12_Years_A_Toucan has taken care of it. Thanks.

That's just stupid. I think people can assume an implicit questionmark

That first one was pretty baity though. OP intentionally left off the question mark so that it would happen and stir drama. Im not saying its isnt a dumb rule but it wasnt an arbitrary decision and OP trying to stir the shit doesnt help his case.

I did not intentionally leave off the question mark. I honestly forgot it. Take that for what you will I suppose.

you're right. I'm here because I thought letting the community decide was the whole purpose behind voat.

To be fair, that deleted one at the top was breaking the rule. It's not a good rule, but the moderators have to enforce them the same way as users have to follow them. It would be dubious for a mod to selectively decide not to delete submissions that break rules.

I agree completely. Mods are to service users, not to control them.

So it's common knowledge /v/AskVoat has been compromised. Can we get it back?

They just deleted my post from the front page, (185 upvotes) for lack of a question mark (initially the comment said comma, don't even remember typing that yeesh) on /v/askvoat

Great post, mods should bear in mind that they are servants to their communities and are NOT the content creators, or the reasons the sub grows.

Moderators need to be educated on their actual duties around here, and stop thinking they're the reason for their subs success.

The question mark rule is pretty stupid. It's apparent when something is and isn't a question from the syntax.

Some people though care more about the letter of the law than the spirit of it, and I think those people would do well in a Kafka novel.
