This one helped me long time ago. Good mother fucker that never expected a return for what they did, but saved my family's ass when all we had left was this place.
Took him to shoot the AK-KK, and the 9mm, then to outback steakhouse because why not? Kinda fucked him over with the AK-KK as I handed it to him first and not the pistol. Trial by fire I guess, but it is overwhelming to say the least. However he took to the 9mm like a boss.
No pressure just at his own pace, and it is my preferred method of education with firearms. You don't bother with target accuracy for a while as people seem to always fixate on that aspect. It's more of just getting used to it. Knowing what it feels like, how to hold it, and seems that it's intuitive for everyone I ever shown or taken to a range.
I hope he and I can do it again someday. What I can't wait for is the day they tell me "I got a gun of my own"!
Please goats don't be afraid of meeting others from here, but be selective of course. Get to know them....reach out and make an actual connection with a person......this makes 6 I have seen face to face from this place, and I hope there will be more in the future.

You are not stupid, your just different in methods of perspective. You see it from your point of view and lack the empathy because you likely never seen it any other way. It's not wrong or right....it just is.
I am with you in that I feel it is important and not a right as much as it is a duty of all Americans to have the means of defense from an occupational force, be that foreign or domestic.
However......that is my belief and not how it is. I can't force them....anymore than I would allow them to force me to their will... difference is that I have the means to enact my will, and they don't....you want to be the real American?
Listen to their words and show them you have reasoning. Take them to a range as I have found many never fired a gun.....they only know what they have been told, and not experienced.
Just try it....you might make a new friend.
