Thats a beautiful sentiment, and theres enough people out there that I don't doubt it is true. What it is also is relying on hope, which by itself, does not lead to victory.

You can't have hope if you're dead.

More importantly dying or going to prison for a cause paints a noble picture, and hollywood sells that in so many movies as what ultimately leads to victory or motivates 'the masses to rise up' or some shit. The reality is no one worth their salt volunteers for anything, peaceful or otherwise, if they think the outcomes gonna be grim, if they think they seriously can't win (which is the point of demoralization). It's a pointless wasteful action.

The hard thing is not resisting or fighting. The hard thing is winning at a cost that isn't too high, without too many losses. Thats why people go the peaceful resistance path.

I just feel like by the time we do decide to fight, those that instigated the fight will be long gone. The government has clearly stepped all over their rights, put them in cuffs, and ultimately threatened them with death (if they resist these injustices) this threat is enough to justify them defending themselves, regardless the outcome
