Depends what area. I've lived around tons of reserve land and allotments. And worked on two reservations. I've seen exactly what you've described, and I've seen untouched nature. I've also seen previously untouched nature get turned into exactly what you described in less than a decade when the BIA turned willed land into an official allotment where anyone from the tribe can claim land.

I have only ever seen as I described....it is a place you are given to die on. None of them worked for it so they have zero loyalty to it's upkeep. Plus their petty crime rates are so high that if you didn't share the same bathwater with them growing up they will never see you as community.

They will steal, lie and cheat you th same as they would anyone else.....problem is that they would be the type that would steal your shit, and then help you look for it.

No thanks.

Everything you described is exactly what I've seen myself. Nail on the head. It's genuinely sad. Also sad that you don't have access to any of the good land that I've seen. It's an exception, not the rule. The land is only good because it's not accessible by car, so no one goes there unless they ride horses or want to hike without trails AND have someone from the tribe with them. Trespassing whites will definitely never be found if killed.

A few (literally) hardcore AmerIndians set up little shacks with lumber they brought in over time. Natural springs and creeks everywhere too. And they are allowed to hunt without license, but there are so few of them that the wildlife is completely intact. I'm guessing this is rare form, but it does exist.
