According to British WWII historian David Irving there were secret communication networks between FDR and Churchill that illegally bypassed state security and intelligence channels. Irving found formerly classified documents in the British state archives that refer to this illicit network which British intelligence had referred to as "the BJ network" (in all seriousness) and which they regarded as a critical threat to state security. High ranking members of the war department of both countries were complaining that FDR and Churchill had been ignoring their analysis and recommendations while coordinating an irrational war strategy between them by independent means.
