Around this weekend it will have been about 4 weeks since NYC shut down.
A relatively recent historic look of yearly deaths in New York City puts the number at around 60,000. (Mid 2000’s)
Simple maths averages this to 165 deaths on a given day.
As of 3/26, the number of people who died with coronachan topped the average daily number for the first time. (167 died 2 weeks past stay at home)
6 days later, that number about doubled, then has been remaining approximately steady at approx. 350 deaths/day specifically related to covid.
We are now about two weeks out from the wave of increased mortality and it hopefully will flag.
I do not know what to figures of other, non-corona related deaths are, although that would be a good (although morbid) question to ask DeBlasio or Cuomo to help wrap our minds around what is happening.
Edit: I found this reported:
So far New York City's announced death toll has reflected only laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses. More than 200 people are dying at home in the city daily during the pandemic, authorities said.
Thoughts? Prayers?

As with most things we probably shouldn't paint with too broad of a brush. Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and even Queens are a pox. But Staten Island is the one borough that is an exception to NYC's liberal culture.

The South Bronx particularly though is an underrated eyesore on American life ranking with Detroit - yet rarely mentioned.
