Using the Richmond rally as an example, one thing is quite clear; the leftists stop spewing their nonsense in that environment. Simply stating online that an armed society is a polite/civil society sends them into a rebuttal overdrive of verbal littering, but seeing it shuts them down into blissful silence.
The inner mental drive behind the former there is probably something like "THERE IS NO WAY I COULD BE WRONG, YOU ARE WRONG". The latter is probably a more solemn self-evaluation, something like "...am I wrong?", and the reason this manifests as silence is that they know they can't say that (or really question anything at all), else they will be subject to ruthless ostracism from their own side.
They have been told for years that all gun-owners are Nazis and that all Nazis should be executed, but this is the first time they have actually seen gun-owners gather, and they can see that the environment thus created is one where people are free to speak, agree, disagree, even be completely wrong -- all without anyone attempting any sort of violence. The only repercussion they will face for commenting on it is from their own side, even in response to a simple statement of fact such as "Thousands of armed men gathered and no shots were fired".
A few of them may have the intelligence to draw harrowing conclusions, such as the massive untold damage their policies would be imposing if their view is incorrect, though most are just stunned into silence as they have their "Hans... are we the baddies?" moment (I know, but the point about self-reflection is valid). It probably won't change how most of them actually vote, though it should at least make them more receptive to notions such as separatist movements, redrawing state lines (ref. West Virginia) and/or forming new states, i.e. any outcome where these men extricate their society from leftist rule without having to invoke all the force on display is a best case result for the leftists. Of course, most people will just dismiss that as improbable, but this claim is actually a key observation; estimating the chance of separation with 1% is the same as estimating the chance of 2.0 happening with 99%.
This sort of event overturns massive lies in the media narrative to an extent that Jeffrey Epstein never could; 2A is both the line beyond which leftist rule will not survive and also probably the best possible vector for exposing the media and getting people to question what other narrative items could be false (or silencing their bullshit, also a welcome result).

Why? Are you going to use the guns? No. Then what is the point.

The functional difference between events where people have no guns and events where everyone has guns but doesn't use them is that no-one stages a physical attack on the latter. A side-effect of the latter is to be a narrative-busting example.
