I made a comment earlier about galleries and art. It set me to thinking this evening. The weed Bob sold me probably helped...
So, bananas taped to walls...
I spoke earlier about Gallery Speak. Gallery Speak is that nonsense gibberish you associate w Art. Its bullshit. But its how an Artist is expected to present themselves and thier Art within the gallery world. But I dont want to talk about that. Its the piece of the Art business I despise. But it exists and whats a man to do about it?
Theres another thing. Called Studio Speak. Studio Speak is actual Art. Studio Speak is where Artists talk to other Artists. About all things Art. It might be how a drawing or painting is made. The vehicles and media, brushes. Sculptural techniques. The actual physical 'stuff'.
And ideas.
Ideas themselves are Art.
Cubism is an idea. Surrealism is an idea.
Once youve entered the world of Art, you...absolutley Must reject rules. If youre imposing a rule youre limiting your vocabulary. Its like telling a commedian theres a joke he Cant tell.
And this is why, as much as you may hate it. A banana duct taped to a wall, is in fact Art.

When the end result is functionally a tally of it's value in FIAT funny money, does the label really matter?

Well imagine how valuable an archived copy of the entire internet from 1992 to current would be then. If only someone really had such a thing.

Well Ill be damned.
If you're speaking of value in the making of Art you've started from a bad spot. Thats the business of art. Lower caps intentional. Business is a fine thing. But it should never influence the making. The business is jewed. Making isn't, or, it shouldn't be
When I apply paint to canvas at what point does the value of the sunk cost of materials become greater than their sum?
[–] xenoPsychologist 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
thats why jewed art concepts are on display and genuine art of value isnt. the business has been the vector that influenced the idea as a whole. i can duct tape a banana to a wall for you.

I don't see it as any different from any other activity which currently falls under the category of tax evasion or mitigation.

These work well together...should anyone care for some real understanding.
As well as this understanding of why nothing the jew has ever offered was actually a 'store of wealth' but is in fact a figment of their imagination brought about by their own parasitic 'definitions' of reality that the White man has been an active participant and willing partner in establishing.

but its worthless as art and says nothing. so much for a vocabulary.

"You must know the rules in order to break them, and you must have a good reason to break them." - a quote from a good artist I knew.
Not knowing the rules or why they are in place is limitating artistic vocabulary. Breaking them without (at some level) knowing why is reckless stupidity. Breaking rules for the sake of it is juvenile.
I suppose anything with a rationale or intention of being art is art. But I think "what is art?" or "what makes something art?" is a far less important discussion than "what is good art?" and "what makes art good?".
... a banana randomly duck taped to a blank wall is shit art at best, and highly likely the intent was not art but simply money laundering, and if it can be proved as such, then I believe it is not art.

He's a liar. Just block him and move on.

What is Art to one is garbage to another I suppose... Yes creativity certainly needs to be freeing and not constricting but the marketplaces forces one to cater to their tastes. Money certainly talks louder sometimes then creative genuineness as many adopt things outside of their comfort zone to appease yet still learn from it in the process.
It kinda turns it from expression to reaction in a way and yet reaction is also a form of expression.
I hate that you are right about this btw, lol a banana duct taped to a wall is art... there I said it! :) Nice to see you MrPim!

it is - from the position of the artist. anything is, even shit. it's a state of mind.

Yes. Similar, if you will to the way an engineer "sees" things.
Just differently.
