I have nobody else to bitch to.
I finally have the money to do something halfway decent, but now I've lost months of my life trying to get these spics to show up to an appointment they themselves made. Supposedly professional engineering firms just tell me to come in several weeks in a row to just blow me off at the last second. The students aren't much better, as they're wrapped up in their own mediocre projects for contests they literally never win. I tried with the local SBA offices, but those spics are no better either. Supposedly they're swamped with work, but that was months ago; and I was supposedly going to get a call two weeks ago to set up an appointment, but, surprise surprise, fucking nobody called.
The only one I could get to respond was a supposed "mentor" for SBA's SCORE thing, and we've spoken for a grand total of 10 minutes, with his advice just being to talk to engineer students, to find someone who has people skills, and talk to VR for funding. How the fuck do you people get even one person on board? Is this problem really just down to where I live?

Stop expecting island beaners to have the same values and work ethic as white people from the mainland. Try recruiting white people from the mainland who want to fuck island beaner sluts who are just happy that he's got a job.

A) I don't expect them to do anything right. But after months of getting pretty much what I saw coming, it got old.
B) I'm not at the "hire an employee" phase yet. This is preliminary work just to get funding. Investors and the like want a product, not an idea. Every moron on Earth has an idea. almost none of them have a product. Once I have some way to reasonably get someone from the mainland, you better believe I'm getting at least two on the payroll.

What do you need students for if you don't have anything for them except an idea?

Ah, "island time."
I helped open a bunch of furniture stores there in the late 2000's. Everything was always late.
We would order a trunk line to be installed 6 months prior to needing it. In the US, it's 6 weeks, tops. And you can pay for expedited installs. In PR? Nope. 6 months, and then you have to call and bitch every day, hour upon hour, until they are sick of hearing from you, and finally send someone out.
Using the "I ordered this 6 MONTHS AGO!!!" complaint, and they can see, sure enough, you ordered it 6 months ago.
You're in the Caribbean - everyone is chill and relaxed. No pressure. Vacation mode. If it doesn't get done today, oh well, there is always tomorrow!

Oh god. I actually had the eminent pleasure of working with whites in an SBA event. It really was night and day. The secretaries were always orderly, polite, and efficient. They would spend the entire day calling out names for "people" who'd come to them seeking an appointment. Half of them didn't show up. When my turn finally came, the spics they'd left in charge of escorting me to the appropriate office had just quietly left me sitting at the lobby for 20 minutes. The (white) secretaries, bless their souls, got me a new appointment and one of them took me to the offices personally. What were the spics doing? Bitching about how punctual the whites were. Like, openly making jokes about how they'd get mad if they're late.
Ultimately, how did these orders go? Did you finally break? Find anyone that's better than just doing the work yourself? I'm basically at a loss as to how to find anyone here that's competent short of sneaking into some White office and hoping someone hears me out before getting booted.

Find Cubans who emigrated to Florida, and then moved to Puerto Rico. Cubans tend to work their asses off - the ones who fled Castro were the upper and middle working classes. They have a work ethic built into them.
Everyone who I dealt with who was puertorriqueno was lazy - the ones with motivation all moved off island to the mainland. Whenever I dealt with Cubans, everything was solid and easy.
Orders went in after a couple of days, you just have to plan wait time, lead time, bitching time, and screaming time into your schedule.

Vehicle manufacturing/sale. Nothing crazy; the idea is to put some brainpower into changing up the way certain vehicles are produced and make the process more automated.

That's not bad. I know that they would go insane over a locally produced vehicle because of badly they got shit on from those laws passed in the 60s and 70s; you'd be a local hero for even attempting the idea. But I hope you have driven the supply route you planned from the port to your factory grounds because some of those roads are terrifying even in a four door coupe before the storm. I can tell you for a fact that bribes will get you places there. The first time I went there I wasn't old enough to rent a car, $50 later I had the keys in my hand.
