I do that to deer that live near me. Usually I can feel them looking at me from a distance. I make eye contact then bow breaking eye contact. Eyes emit energy others can feel, that is why if you are hunting something you shouldn't look directly at it for long.
Sometimes I will stomp my foot to keep them on their hooves.

Superstitious bullshit. Tests have been done to determine if people can tell that someone is staring at them and the results were no better than random guesses.

While I agree that what Blumen suggests is BS I do think that at times we sense things on a somewhat subconscious level via hearing or out of the corners of our eyes or perhaps even touch, such as a small tremor. Those things might produce a lower-brain response because they're subtle and not understood. I could be full of it but it matches up with my personal experience.

You can tell if people are looking at you without constantly knowing that your eyes are doing it in your peripheral vision

I have been walking through the forest and felt something looking at me, spun around to see an owl up in a tree. My eyes went right to it.

I've read studies that have shown the opposite.
