Directed energy weapons are currently being produced by Lockheed Martin. Successful application has been demonstrated.

A combat jet was outfitted with one such laser, and was able to burn a hole through the engine of a pickup truck.

They don't have color, they don't make sound. Pilots requested a signal tone be added to the trigger sequence because they have no indication the weapon is even in use.

The future of warfare is on the way, and it's bringing considerable cause for alarm, as it always has.

But why would these DEWs be used to light forest fires? I can't conceive a logical reason to light your own country's forests on fire.
