Why do it in a hospital? Is someone sick, or has a problem been detected?

Midwives are the traditional care providers for mothers and infants. Midwives are trained professionals with expertise and skills in supporting women to maintain healthy pregnancies and have optimal births and recoveries during the postpartum period. Midwives provide women with individualized care uniquely suited to their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs. - https://mana.org/about-midwives/what-is-a-midwife

This might not be the best source, but it's a start. We had a midwife, and she provided all normal medical care, including scans, testing, nutritional advice, and support. 20 years ago, the full cost for the whole pregnancy and birth was $3,000. We did it in our bed. After he was out and cleaned up, they (+assistant) changed the bedding and we were all asleep in our own bed within 45 minutes. Highly recommended.

*There was no one present who felt compelled to inject him with vaccines, or do any of that other hospital bullshit.

**Should also point out our midwife had hospital access in case a problem was detected, like a breach birth, or anything else that might cause complications.
