Maybe I just didn't pay attention to all that but from what I remember it was just generally gifted kids. I specifically don't remember the poorly socialized aspect as they were often referred to as the opposite, kids who were gifted but who also brought people together and had leadership qualities.
Again maybe I just wasn't looking into it too deep.

They never used the word autism... because that would have spoiled the "indigo" magic.
But, basically, it was as /u/NOMOCHOMO said: poorly socialized semi-autistic kids raised by single moms and might-as-well-be-single moms.

You're right that they claimed all sorts of things, including the "bring people together"...
...so where'd they all go? and who all did they bring together, exactly?

Kevin isn't like the other kids. He's special.

Especially after mom's 15th live-in-boyfriend this year has had that special alone time with Kevin.
