Freedom of speech means having to tolerate speech you think is abhorrent. What's cool about voat is you can say almost anything a person wants. What's not cool is to see how at the expense of free speech, viewpoints everywhere now are in effect being pathologized and conflated to mean things they don't, and drawing conclusions that are inaccurate. Even if you disagree, it's good to debate with people you disagree with. Conflating everyone you disagree with into an easy to oppress category is disingenuous when you think about it, and that is the lefts new strategy going forwards as well as what a lot of people do on voat immediately blaming races for problems when the reality is much more nuanced.

For example, I think the problem in America is the country got subverted by the KGB promoting cultural marxism (Source: Yuri Bezmenov) and after they collapsed and became capitalist, the ivy league that was subverted continued to produce graduates who were influenced by that subversive rhetoric intersecting with the dominant theories there (post-modernism, 3rd wave feminism, relativism, progressivism, etc). There is no single group of people promoting these ideas, so it's uneducated, hateful or disingenuous to blame races individually.

However, the left are not living up to that cognitive standard because now they're trying to conflate everyone who disagrees with them as a potential threat to society, and trying to pathologize any disagreements whatsoever. That is because the overton window is shifted left now because they doubled-down on crazy when Trump won.

If someone were to say every progressive is a secretly a communist who should be thrown in prison, that would be the equivalency. And that would be wrong to say that because the majority of them have no idea what's going on.

So basically the country is unstable. But the economy is great. And they don't care. They think business people are sociopaths anyway.

But yeah, the racism gets tiring.

exactly!!!

There are whole sections of society who are deliberately isolated from the info that is on this site and I feel that by absorbing just a fraction of it it would get a ball rolling in their heads that would wake up a large percentage of them.

So I’m guessing you’ve been here awhile and regularly take part in discussions, what’s your take on the constant and pointless racism?

Is it an in group thing?

A bunch of morons venting?

An extreme showing of the free speech thing?

Or could my theory that it’s being perpetrated to keep people away hold some water?

And wanted to add. This is ultimately what is wrong with everything in the world: https://files.catbox.moe/x7waxv.jpg

That's the problem. Everything else is just a symptom.

I did an experiment posting a meme of a black guy saying the left were calling Trump Hitler and now that they want to confiscate guns they are behaving like Hitler. I posted it knowing the frame of a neonazi would not like it because they think he didn't confiscate them (but he only let true believers have them so he did). About 24% downvoted and it got to the front page. So I think around 24% of voat are actually ideologically white supremecists.

I think the constant racism is just because they think that is what is causing the problems in the world but it won't trend in the modern age because it's not true.

Absent free speech, it's possible to create confirmation bias and make people believe things (Twitter, Reddit and Facebook are great examples). With free speech, it's almost inevitable for people to reject leftism because the ideas don't hold up to scrutiny. What's fuckedup is since neither left or right are actually fully correct, the outliers can take on weird or scary belief systems as they work towards some kind of intellectual congruency. Education works in stages basically. Some levels look bad when all it needs is more education for that perspective to no longer be gloomy.

I'm only here because reddit said my account was hacked from r the donald and it was obvious they were singling out influential posters and trying to get them from reactivating their account if they signed up with throwaway email addessses which most people do. They also shadow banned certain topics and then 6 months or so after I left they put them in "quarantine" after some posters were making threats-- which is odd because you don't quarantine a city based upon the actions of a few people. That's how I think of platforms... digital cities. Voat is a very racist city, but it allows speech that would be shadow banned outright by other platforms.

Is racism being spouted to keep others away? I don't think so. People on voat are very honest about what they think and want from what I've seen.
