Really young kids might as well be a sack of potatoes that shits itself and cries every 45 minutes between naps. Once they get to around 12-18 months old though they want to explore every fucking thing they can with all their senses which is why kids taste absolutely retarded shit and whatnot. What they do understand though is fear from an adult. You need to believe it though and show that emotion for them to get it. You could for example leave a unloaded gun out and the second they go for it freak the fuck out, scoop them up and kick the gun away from them. They'll instinctively know it's dangerous but they won't know why. After you calm down and get them to chill out too you then show them why boom sticks are scary by making them stand well back and firing a round off. Bonus points if you do it into something like a watermelon and after comforting them show them the watermelon pieces, point to the gun, make a boom noise with hand gestures that then point to where the watermelon was and make an exploding noise and gesture to go with it. Young kids are like niggers and need this kind of instruction but once you instill it they know it for life so show them how dangerous guns out and then when they're like 5-6yo reintroduce them to guns with a much lower powered gun and teach them how to use it properly so their fear of weapons turns into a healthy respect for them.
At a young age you NEED to scare them off from guns because they are too young to understand them. Just like you scare the shit out of kids with playing around a hot stove and plug ins.
Then when they are older and mentally more agile they will better understand guns and will always have a healthy respect of the weapon.
Fear isn’t a bad thing it’s literally how we learn

I have thought of this but I'm worried about scarring my child and giving them some kind of complex.
