What about when your child is around 2-3 and VERY curious and mischievous?

Then take your 2-3year old child to the range with your biggest gun and scare the shit out of them.

Age is a bit arbitrary in my example as some kids are smarter and more curious at a younger age. So if they are curious take them out put some earpeote room on them and have them stand next to you as you shoot,

Tell them

These are very very dangerous and you should never touch them and then shoot a few rounds off and repeat the danger speech.

Also there’s no reason to keep a bullet chambered and a kid that young wouldn’t have the strength to chamber a bullet so that’s an additional safe guard

Keep it out of reach. If you can't, unchamber the round when you set it down.

I really don't think there is any possible way a 3 year old child could chamber anything from .380- up. Probably not even any chance of .22. If you are still concerned about it (always good to worry about the 0.000001% probably when it comes to lives)just keep it on you at all times if it's not locked up. Good idea to have it on you at all times anyway.
