Maybe not so much email although I have done so. Im almost certain Ive used it here on Voat and definitely on other forums. A long time ago I decided to use it in place of Man or Dude. So I will use it in completely informal settings. Friend passes me a joint "Thank you sir"

I do have a rather odd speech pattern and vocabulary though. Most people dont really use 'rather' these day for example. Ive lived in the middle of America my whole life but Ive read a lot and plenty from other cultures and time periods. Resulting in an odd amalgam of speech.

Yeah, in your example is kind of what I had in mind. Very informal, maybe in an amusing or exaggerated way. "Why thank you, my good sir!" kind of thing.

So definitely not in a professional/workplace context.
