Really? My history class was very clear about how the nazi party was voted into office,. With increasing levels of support. Starting out like kind of a joke party, not really taken seriously, then slowly gaining political traction over a period of years.

Kind of hard not to when then political meetings of other parties start getting violently broken up by the brown shirts. And then the Reichstag catches fire. This "mysterious accident" prompts the German patriot act, granting emergency powers to the Fuhrer, who uses these powers to expand his powers. The "votes" after this point are about as meaningful as a vote in North Korea today. Voting for, and belonging to the party were pretty much mandatory for success, and eventually survival. A vote in this case is a show of interest in ones own well being, and not necessarily an endorsement of the leaders policies
