It's not that women's opinions don't matter at all. It's that peoples' opinions don't matter to others.

It's that men shouldn't be concerned about anyone's opinion other than those he admires most.

Edit - On second thought, it's that others feelings typically don't matter. If someone is reasonable enough to understand their feelings don't matter, they're opinion is likely more valuable. If someone is unreasonable enough to think their feelings matter to anyone else, their opinion is likely worthless.

Both men and women are being encouraged to embrace their feelings, and expect others to give a shit about them. This is part of the war on merit we're all seeing.

Some men's opinions definitely do matter. Men make their opinions based on analysis, and may choose the side less likely to win because they believe the side is right (not all men, but most). I think you are making this image into a different issue.
