Years ago, I was entering a store and politely held the door for the person following behind me. That person happened to be a woman. As she walked by me, through the door I held open for her, she said contemptuously, "What are you, some kind of Boy Scout?!"

She accepted my kindness while also insulting me for it. This experience changed the way I viewed women. Now, Call me unchivalrous.
