The lasso is hard to use, do you think there is a way to make a perfect line selection?

If the magic lasso that MisterGrieves suggested doesn't work, you could try the polygon lasso tool. It will let you select an area by selecting a series of points around it. Just zoom in pretty far and use a ton of points and it will probably come out looking good.

I'm a bit of a control freak so I do it this way far more often than I should. I use a ton of points and it takes forever with most images, but this is a pretty basic shape so it shouldn't be too bad. Just use a lot of points and trace around the two edges you want to be the dark half, like the bottom and left edges or whatever, making a lot of points. You could start at the top left, finish at the bottom right, then connect the start and end points with a big diagonal line through the middle where you want the adjustment to happen.

Right side of the screen -> Adjustements -> Levels, right?

I am starting to understand, thanks, but what would be the best way to make each selection less bright?

I think they have made pretty good advances in the selection tools. Use the magic lasso and see if that helps to select. If not we can get into what they call masking.
