tactically speaking, there's utility in treating a complicated enemy faction as monolithic

YOU CAN'T CHANGE STATUS OF FORCES BEFORE THE FIGHTING STARTS

YOU CAN'T PICK SURVIVORS OF A FUTURE WAR

Oh yes, I'm not saying not to kill our enemies. I'm trying to reason out who exactly that all entails. Which ones deserve to be hung, which ones have hope yet, etc.

Scorched earth is an easy solution, but there are innocents involved, which have done nothing wrong.

and you're going to run out there and shield the innocents?

what have you been doing for 17 years during the GWOT? Shielding afghan children?

no. you're virtue signaling. and when the metal starts flying around you aren't going to do shit. So fucking stop trying to set command parameters about an enemy that you're never going to fucking see.
