Seen the pattern repeated too many times to count. Oh great leader comes along, great leader develops a cult of personality, cult acts like tards, secondary "priest class" comes in to make money and grab more followers, people follow for x amount of time. Turns out to be an ass at the end.
You could say that it's a distaste for authority, but I haven't even seen anything that makes me believe there's authority there in the first place. Not to mention the timing which diverted away from other research. But, given the quality of people coming to the board I don't think the researchers are really following anyway with the exception of a handful.
