I have an alternate theory. The marketing firms have been replaced with the past two decades of college grads. These grads have been brainwashed with feminism, diversity and social justice. All of their news echos these ideas back at them. They believe this is what the population wants and are thus directing companies to market themselves in this way.

Now there may be more women involved in marketing making this bad decisions, so you might be correct indirectly.

Also, whenever a "minority" sues the company for discrimination, the company wants to be able to show a great diversity image when walking into court.

It isn't really that important what the cause is. If these sort of actions keeps on hurting the profit this badly, it wont be long before the stockholders will demand the corps relocate to a place where they're allowed to have an all "white, old and greedy" board in peace, so they can earn some god damn fucking money.

This is what I believe is true. Not only have those kids been brainwashed into feminism, diversity, social justice and all the accoutrement of identity politics but also taught that they have to be an activist in order to be a good person.

So on top of feeling a certain way about every subject under the sun they feel massive group and personal pressure to do something about it or risk losing the approval of the group and themselves that they desperately desire. Thats why they can't stand the idea of live and let live, it has to be what they or anyone else higher in the pecking order wants or else.
