Squirrel tails are the same.. well, most vertebrate body parts are.. It's pretty neat; the tail has two string-like tendons; When you pull one, the tail curls up and the other makes the tail go flat. It all seizes up once rigor mortis sets in, but it's kinda' creepy when you first lop it off. (It was a rare black squirrel that wasn't native to this region. I literally saw it drop from a power line and land in the street.. so I took its tail and popped it into an envelope filled with salt to preserve it.)
