I agree, watched it this weekend as well and completely regretted it. I actually tried to fall asleep. Which wasn’t that hard as how bad the movie was. So glad I went to the matinee.

Last movies i watched in theaters were the lotr trilogy. So whats that, 15+ years ago? The one exception was when i was down in CA visiting my brother maybe 10 yrs ago, and had an afternoon to kill. Went in to watch a random movie, and walked out half way through. Jurassic park was a great flick, but could have been way better if it stuck more to the book and was rated r. Still, awesome movie, and i was about 11yrs old when it came out. Jp2, terrible. Even back then, sjw propaganda with malcom having a nigger dauggter, and that ridiculous scene with her gymnastic stunts, so terrible. 3 was a bit better than 2, but still, only one worth a damn was the first. Havent seen the newest one, and dont intend to.

Many movies are becoming formulaic. It's kind of sad.

Big budget movies are like mutual funds. When you spend a lot of money you dont want to take risks.

On the opposite end the company that made "get out" and "split" spends about 5 million on each movie and says "go do whatever you want"

Low budget movies have always been where the creativity is.

Formulaic doesn't even feel like it describes it anymore. Half of the movie was fanservice callbacks to earlier movies, and the other half was a half-baked plot ripped off of better movies, acted out by characters who should have known better (this is supposedly the same universe as the other movies), and predictable to the point that a child should see what's coming.

It literally takes three seconds from them introducing a certain character to know they're the main villain and will suffer the worst death of the film.

It's either reboot a movie, "soft reboot" by remaking the first film. In the franchise with different characters, make the same movie over and over again, or make it again, but all women cast.

Man i get given cinema tickets as gifts every now and again. Heres my story last time i bothered -

Couldnt even give away the second free ticket. Literally all my mates had shite excuses. Turns out that wasnt a bad thing.

Stupid me didnt bother looking at the showing times. I get to my nearest one about 20 min drive away. Its in the middle of renovations. Somethings up because queue well out the door and down the fire exit corridor/temp entranceway well away from ticket hall.

Shuffle along for a good 20 minutes until just inside actual ticket area more queues. I finally see the sessions running in this 15 screen plus imax.

Two movies on every screen every session.

50 Shades of Grey

The interview.

Even better.... even if id actually been that desparate to see something ... i would have had to pay for it.

Every screen. 'No Free Tickets' - now interestingly enough, that includes tickets that were not, in fact, 'free' at all because someone still paid for them. But whatever. They were worthless. Havent bothered since.

My kids wanted to see The Incredibles 2. I wasn't thrilled about that but... sigh... It's so (((Disney) )) social justice paint by numbers it makes me angry I spent money on it . They actually break the 4th wall in the middle of the movie to tell the viewing audience we're stupid, mindless, lazy consumers. It's infuriating and I don't go to the theater any more for this and a host of other reasons. Even my girlfriend, who I have been gradually redpilling for a few years now, turned to me with jaw dropped incredulously. I was so smugly proud of her for it.

Cinema has been dead for a long time. Nothing released after WWII is worth watching.
