I agree that Lavoy and many other patriots deserve to have statues erected for them one day, but we should not remove any of the ones we do not like. Doing so makes us no better than those who are removing Confederate statues or those of white men of accomplishment. We should leave them in place to remind us of why the other statues were necessary. Perhaps we will better remember our past through it and avoid repeating the mistakes we once made that led us there.

There's a statue of Lenin in Seattle. Pretty sure I can tear that one down with a clean conscience. And if you want to avoid repeating past mistakes, part of those mistakes was not completely eradicating the presence and even memory of those who often and vocally wish for our destruction. If your heart is swayed by appeals of "HYPOCRISY" from those that are proudly hypocrites themselves, you deserve lavoys fate. Vae Victis.
