I read this post a few months ago and legit bought Lugols solution cause fuck it why not. It worked for me. It gave me energy, focus and supressed my appetite in a reasonable manner. I quit it two weeks ago to test for placebo. Energy is down pretty noticeably. Im going back to drinking it daily indefinitely.

I tried the whole regimen for a few weeks last year and gave myself some pretty bad gastritis that I'm still dealing with today. So, use caution and YMMV.

I tried this recently using the 2% Lugol's solution, and it gave me loose bowels. It's not fun having the sharts at work, and it turns out one of the symptoms of excess iodine is diarrhea, so yeah, I don't need an iodine supplement.

I tried taking high doses of iodine and I felt irritation by my thyroid gland. I need more iodine now, and maybe I will put a few drops in a gallon of water.

I do morton's lite salt. It has a higher mineral to sodium ratio than regular salt.

I don't need iodine supplements, my entire life I have max salted just about everything that I eat. Table salt with iodine, not that hippy pink shit.

But, but, your blood pressure!... is perfect and I'm 52 (but look 40). Also a huge bonus of iodine is that it clears the thyroid of radioactive particles, radiation binds with Iodine first before it binds with your cells, it's why iodine is a treatment for radiation exposure.

BTW, I'm White, don't try this if you are a nigger, it will kill you.

That's not how supplement saturation works. If a radioactive isotope is already in your system then good luck getting it out with Iodine tablets. Supplement saturation is a prevention, not a cure. It works by saturating your body with a stable, non-radioactive version of a given element. So when you are exposed to radiation, any radioactive isotopes of that element that enter your body will not be absorbed and quickly excreted out as your body already has an excess of that given element.

Iodine tablets are used to prevent radiation exposure from Uranium and Plutonium, as Iodine-131 is a common fission product from those elements. Iodine-131 will fuck you up if it gets in you, so Iodine tablets are given to people working in and around nuclear reactors that run on Uranium. But if the radiation you are being exposed to is not Iodine and does not decay into Iodine, such as Cobalt-60, then Iodine tablets will do fuck-all for you.

It's good to know the actual chemistry of how this stuff works instead of the Iodine mysticism that seems so prevalent on Voat.

A lot of people think Iodine just makes you immune to radiation, if not just treating it as a miracle cure-all.

...I completely forgot about the "iodine tablets" that they used to constantly have on-hand in old tales where people were likely to be regularly exposed to radiation. Holy shit...

Potassium Iodide is one of the most important things to have around, just in case a nuke ever goes off in your back yard. Better to saturate your Thyroid with that instead of having it full of Iodine-131.

do your own research

I do. Which is why I'm jaded, running into so many dumb cunts claiming all kinds of nonsense on the internet. Strangely enough, most of them seem to be emboldened by the phrase "doctors are full of shit half the time" -- which is true, but so are half the people saying that....

It's far between that I stop talking shit and say "Hey, listen."

Hey, listen.

This is correct. You. Are. Deficient. Don't believe me? Go put some iodine on your skin. It should stay for hours. I about guarantee that you'll absorb all of it through your skin in less than an hour.

All my life my body temperature was low all the time. A few years ago, I had a suspicion about something so I tracked my temps. On waking up, my average body temp was 95.6. Clinically speaking, hypothermia is below 95 degrees: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Hypothermia/

One of you sick fucks was talking shit about the feminization of males and I started to do some research so I could tell this retard what a dumbass he was. I did end up proving that he was a certifiable retard but I also delved in to deep, dark corners of the web that y'all should just never touch and discovered that some people manage low body temps with iodine. Specifically, nascent iodine. Twice a day, three drops in a glass of water. Tastes like a fuckin' hospital but I did it. 18 months later, my body temp stays between 98.2 and 98.6 where it belongs.

You know what low body temps are a symptom of? Underactive thyroid. Like... heading into diabetes territory.

Check your temp, put some iodine on your skin. Especially if you're diabetic.

My hands are extraordinarily sensitive to cold. Like to the point where I can't even hold a gallon of milk for longer than ten seconds or so without excruciating pain. I started taking iodine a couple years ago and miraculously the cold sensitivity went away as long as I took it at least every other day. I never stuck with it longer than a week at a time, wait a couple months then take it again for a week. I was scared of doing damage to my thyroid.

Shouldn't Iodized salt still prevent this? It's not like it's vanished from the market, Morton's Iodized Salt is seemingly as available as ever.

> people here actually fell for the sea salt jew

edit: I'm also curious how Anon suggests minimizing the Bromine we get through bread. I guess, just eat less bread?

Himalayan Pink Salt contains 80+ minerals. Morton's Iodized Salt is empty trash that is fortified with iodine. Yes you'll get iodine from it, but that's about it. Why not use Himalayan Pink Salt and supplement with iodine? get the best of both worlds. Also magnesium and vitamin D are worth looking into. Iodine is especially important prenatally, iodine increases IQ and decreases retardation when given to pregnant women. Another good iodine write-up also can be found at http://www.gwern.net/Iodine

Tastes great too. I've heard lots of people say salt on watermelon tastes good, but salt on apple is way better.

I've found I like salt + granny smith best, though it does feel like it does my teeth some trouble so I make sure to have some water on hand to drink afterwards.

Sure it's good for you're teeth. That's why dentists often offer it during annual cleaning. You can even use a fluoride toothpaste if you want. Just don't poison you're water with it and you'll be fine.

[–] weezkitty 2 points 5 points (+7|-2) ago

Yep. It's mostly placebo/pseudo-science bullshit. It is possible to be iodine deficient, and that would have detrimental effects. But it's pretty rare. Most salt is iodized, despite what this leads you to believe. And if people buy seasalt, it's because of the taste, not some "conspiracy" (that point kinda ruins the credibility of the post)

The barely noticeable amount of iodine that is in table salt, from what I have read, evaporates over time and leaves the salt.... well, non-iodized. I also have used the supplement in my cold coffee (hides the taste). I am happy with the results. I also have hypothyroidism.

I asked a nutritionist friend of mine about this the last time it was posted. She just laughed and said that milk and eggs have lots of iodine in them naturally, and that this just read like a viral marketing post for Lugol's aimed at conspiracy theorists.
