The site of million dollar houses, snobby empty people will increase your depression, even if you yourself are rich. It doesn't matter.
This is one of the reasons why the West is so depressing. They think richness makes people happy. It doesn't. I like puddles, dirt, commotion and disorder. It cures my soul.
You don't always have to be clean, orderly in EVERYTHING!
Thats why people like Marylin Monroe, Robin Williams, Michael Jackson and Elvis commit suicide. If they went to a place like Russia and started a farm, they would've met people who make them happy.
Meh, even going to a places like Canada, Iowa or Wisconsin would've helped them.
Living around cold calculating rich assholes will make you DEPRESSED.

Lol trust me my friend you won't find much in Kansas but if that's what you are looking for.

The problem is that I just don't know where I could go to find what I'm looking for. Any city big enough to easily find a group I can meet up with will also be tainted by the socialist brainwashing omnipresent in modern society, and I might have to wait a while for any of the small towns to recover enough from the 8-year recession for their culture to swing away from "drug use, suicide, and cashing in welfare checks or fleeing to the city for a government job".
Just as the old book title goes, I feel like "I have No Mouth, and I must Scream."

I hear ya. Seems like you need people but hate most of them. Do you remember when you made friends online that you didn't know in real life? You can still do that if you need serious specialized interaction.

Yeah that can be pretty depressing but there are still good small communities out there you just have to learn to live slower. Case in point the reason small town folks like to talk is because personal community is still valuable too them. Learning to talk to people is a skill not developed in Urban jungles, where your interactions are in the minutes to seconds with new people.
I'm getting windy now but everything you want to find in interpersonal relationships can be found and had outside the city. I bet you've never gotten laid in a wheat field on a bright summers day.
